Position Overview

The Institutional Giving Manager is part of a dynamic development department charged with raising funds to support Tipping Point’s vision for impact. The Institutional Giving Manager assists with strategic leadership and takes tactical ownership over all corporate and foundation funding sources. They are responsible for managing the corporate and foundation donor portfolio and writing high-quality and compelling correspondence, proposals, and grant reports for all institutional funders. The Institutional Giving Manager is a strategic thinker with exceptional writing and relationship management skills, strong project management experience, attention to detail and the capacity to translate program initiatives and impact into targeted and compelling funding requests. They serve as an ambassador of Tipping Point, representing the organization to donors, partners, grantees, and others.

What will you do?

Relationship Management

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with all corporate and foundation donors; engage and solicit donors on an annual basis through meetings, events, campaigns and other outreach.
  • Conduct research, pursue leads and pitch new institutional funders. Help grow the existing portfolio of funders.
  • Writes materials to effectively support the Chief Development Officer, Director of Philanthropy, and other development and executive team members to develop and maintain relationships with corporate and institutional donors; collaborate with Individual Giving team on shared relationships.
  • Initiates and leads site visits, funder briefings, presentations, and other donor education opportunities for corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

Collaboration + Project Management

  • Develops persuasive proposals, strategies, narratives, and language for programs and initiatives by effectively utilizing existing materials and collaborating with senior Development and Program staff.
  • Partners with the Communication + Events team to coordinate social media and other communications relevant to corporate partners.
  • Thoughtfully and effectively engages the Program team to gather key information and translate programmatic work and initiatives into compelling narratives.
  • Creates, solicits and implements corporate sponsorship plans for all relevant Tipping Point events. Partners with the Communication + Events team to create needed materials.
  • Collaborate with FinOps + Grants Management team to ensure the financial + administrative approach and compliance/tracking is accurate.

Grants Management

  • Writes foundation and corporate LOIs, grant proposals and reports, within all specified timelines; tracks grant deliverables, organizes program team input on reports and proposals, and creates budgets in coordination with program and finance staff.
  • Proactively and efficiently manages the timeline of annual solicitations, ensuring that asks are made in a timely fashion to secure funding yearly.
  • Partners with Development Associate and Development Assistant to ensure that all institutional gifts and activities are properly entered in Salesforce.

What qualifications are we looking for?

Additionally, the Institutional Giving Manager must have:

  • Relevant fundraising experience, with a proven ability to secure five and six-figure gifts from foundation and corporate donors.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to efficiently create funding narratives in a fast-paced environment; ability to synthesize complex activities and data into coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignment when faced with many deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Outstanding partnership development, customer service, and relationship management skills.
  • Results-orientation and ability to tackle complex problems through entrepreneurial approach and creative problem-solving.
  • Track record of being able to work effectively across different groups of people, and an ability to act as a strong team player.
  • Commitment to Tipping Point’s mission and values and ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity in representing the organization.
