The Opportunity for Impact: Shape Our Talent, Drive Our Success
Abode Communities is at an inflection point, with a unique opportunity for growth. The Talent & Culture team is being elevated and modernized to meet the organization’s future needs, and this Director role will be integral in shaping that evolution. As the Director of Talent & Culture, you will be a key leader, second to the Associate Vice President, Talent & Culture (AVP, T+C), responsible for executing the Talent & Culture team’s workplan and managing the day-to-day operations of the function. You will operationalize the AVP’s strategic vision and ensure the effective delivery of Talent & Culture programs and services that empower our employees and drive organizational success.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- Strategic Leadership & Execution: Translate the AVP’s strategic vision into actionable plans, contributing to the development of Talent & Culture strategies that align with Abode Communities’ overall goals. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and initiatives, providing regular updates and reports to the AVP.
- Team Leadership & Management: Supervise and mentor the Talent & Culture team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Delegate tasks effectively, provide guidance and support, and conduct performance evaluations to promote professional development.
- Talent Acquisition & Development: Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring we attract and retain top talent. Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies, assess training needs, and manage the performance management process.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Manage employee relations issues, ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and develop and maintain Talent & Culture policies and procedures.
- HR Operations & Technology: Oversee the effective use of our HRIS (Paycom), analyze HR data, and assist in the development and management of the Talent & Culture budget.
Your Pathway to This Role: Experience and Growth
We understand that the perfect candidate doesn’t always exist. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in HR and a passion for building a thriving workplace. Here’s what we envision as a pathway to success in this role:
- Experience: 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certifications: SHRM-CP/SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification (preferred).
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, management, and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (Paycom) and other HR-related technology.
- Knowledge of California employment law.
- Previous Roles: Successful candidates may have held positions such as:
- HR Manager
- HR Business Partner with significant leadership responsibilities
- Talent Development Manager
- HR Consultant
