Overview
We’re looking for a skilled marketing and media relations specialist to temporarily support our Northwest Adoption Exchange and Alaska Center for Resource Families programs. This position is best for individuals who have the ability to work full or part-time (at least 20 hours a week) from mid-April through mid-July 2025.
The Marketing Specialist and Media Buyer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to localizing and securing placements for an Ad Council PSA campaign. This includes building relationships with media outlets and securing donated media space to reach potential adoptive families.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit marketing and media relations in Washington or Alaska. We’re looking for someone who:
- Excels in taking initiative and working independently.
- Can quickly grasp the complexities and ethical implications of adoption from foster care.
- Is comfortable quickly designing, implementing, and evaluating a donated media campaign across multiple markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The temporary Marketing Specialist and Media Buyer will play a key role in increasing the number of families inquiring about adopting from foster care in Washington and Alaska. This person will lead efforts to localize and secure placement for public service announcements (PSAs) originally developed by the Ad Council and the national adoption initiative, AdoptUSKids.org, by building relationships with media outlets and securing donated media space.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least three years of experience in marketing and media relations.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating campaigns involving donated media.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Commitment to equity and agency values of collaboration, empathy, expertise, and continuous improvement.
BONUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with nonprofits, especially those focused on child welfare.
- Potential availability to continue working with the organization after this opportunity on an as-needed basis.
LOCATION, SALARY AND BENEFITS, AND HOW TO APPLY
LOCATION
This position is open to remote applicants. Our teams follow a hybrid work model, and candidates located in Seattle, Anchorage, or Fairbanks have the option to work in-office if preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position may be filled on a full-time or part-time basis and is funded through mid-July 2025. We anticipate the hourly rate for the position to be in the range of $33-$40 per hour.
For temporary employees we offer flexible work schedules, paid holidays, paid sick leave, and a retirement plan contribution. Temporary employees do not receive paid vacation time or medical or dental insurance.
