Overview

Soundview is a small independent school for children from Early Childhood through 8th Grade. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years and Middle Years programs in multi-age classrooms. The curriculum is inquiry-based, transdisciplinary, and planned collaboratively by the teaching team and IB Coordinator.

The Early Childhood assistant teaching position is an exciting opportunity for a progressive, collaborative, inquiry-minded teacher. The teacher will join our Early Years teaching team to deliver instruction to a multi-age class. This position will require supporting the lead teachers and preparing the classroom environment. In addition, the teacher will support Soundview’s Before- and After-School Care program. Summer Camp positions may also be available.

Basic Duties of All Teachers Include:

  • Care for the social, emotional, and developmental needs of students and families.
  • Collaborative planning with teaching teams.
  • Various supervisory duties.
  • Full participation in the life of the school and students, including evening and weekend events.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and knowledge of child development.
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate preferred.
  • IB and independent school experience preferred.
  • Experience in other subject areas, educational technology, service learning, and/or design thinking is a plus.
