Overview

Soundview is a small independent school for children from Early Childhood through 8th Grade. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary and Middle Years programs in multi-age classrooms. The curriculum is inquiry-based, grounded in principles of social justice and environmental sustainability, and promotes student action.

The Skills Collaborative program serves neurodiverse middle school students who are curious, engaged learners and need structured support to have positive and successful school experiences and outcomes. The Learning Support teacher will work with a small group of middle school students and their families. Skills Collaborative will incorporate the International Baccalaureate curriculum to build executive function skills and feature an individualized approach for participating students.

Basic Duties Include:

  • Create an inclusive, respectful, and nurturing classroom that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of 12-15 Skills Collaborative students.
  • Work closely with colleagues and parents to support student learning and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure all unit planning, instruction, assessment, and reporting aligns with IB principles and practices, with a specific focus on differentiation and accommodations.
  • Perform various supervisory duties, including an after-school homework club.
  • Engage in ongoing program review and revision.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school and students, including outdoor trips and evening events.
  • Collaborate with the faculty on IB unit planning,
  • Communicate actively with the families of these 12-15 students.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university required.
  • Master’s degree in related fields preferred.
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate required.
  • IB and independent school experience preferred.
  • Special education, learning support, or counseling/coaching experience preferred.
