The Committee of Interns and Residents is looking for its first-ever Creative Content Coordinator. The ideal candidate is someone who has a creative background and enjoys creating compelling digital experiences for members and external audiences. This position will be responsible for developing and executing engaging online content that increases brand awareness, and advances our campaigns and programs.

The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) is the largest house staff union in the United States. We are a local of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), representing nearly 33,000 resident physicians who are dedicated to improving residency training and education, advancing patient care, and expanding healthcare access for our communities. CIR’s mission is to empower our nation’s interns, residents and fellows to fight for excellence for our patients.

Job Summary

The Creative Content Coordinator will be responsible for building our online presence and communicating directly with our members, residents at large, and the public while using multiple online platforms. With an eye for innovative design, the Creative Content Coordinator is interested in setting and consistently

raising the standard for digital products in union organizing. They will create and develop visual branding and storytelling content across multiple platforms, using UX, graphic design, and video creation principles to inform and engage our target audiences. The ideal candidate is a creative, collaborative self-starter with a strong visual and user experience design background who keeps up with digital trends. This person will collaboratively work with Public Affairs, Field,

Political and other staff to elevate our organization’s values and represent our members through branded content.

The Creative Content Coordinator will report to the Director of Communications.

Job Responsibilities

New Media

● Support with content creation, editing and strategy for all CIR digital platforms to increase engagement with our audiences, advance our campaigns, and amplify key projects.

● Review data analytics and metrics to inform audience engagement and determine new opportunities to increase brand awareness and/or improve user experience.

Communications

● Write compelling, engaging copy for both print and online publications for members, potential members, alumni, and allies to further internal and external organizing, and strategic campaigns

● Review and edit text for outgoing communications and materials such as letters, statements, petitions, and e-mails

● Maintain brand cohesion by ensuring uniformity in format, palettes, and language according to the CIR style guide

● Assist with member prep for actions and public speaking events as needed

● Organize and archive assets

Digital creation

● Create, edit, and produce graphics and animation content, visual and UX design templates for the organization and our various digital marketing campaigns

● Produce engaging, groundbreaking short-form video content to amplify our narrative, brand, and campaigns

● Produce pre-roll, ad, and live content cut downs

Other departmental and organizational support as needed.

Requirements and Skills

● Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, or related field preferred

● Excellent writing and designing skills that can move people to take action

● Experience developing digital strategy and content for issue-based advocacy, or political campaigns; familiarity with a range of online campaigning tools and tactics

● A proven track record in social media strategy and management as well as deep knowledge of trends of digital organizing and best practices for communicating via e-mail, Facebook, X (Twitter), and other platforms

● Fluency in graphic design; experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Spark, Illustrator, Canva, etc.

● Understanding of brand cohesion and good storytelling

● The ability to learn, think critically and be a team player who excels at collaboration and working cross-functionally

● Flexible working outside normal business hours, ability to work in the evenings and weekends as needed

● Remote, with the ability to travel if needed

● Must be fully vaccinated for Covid

CIR Offers

Competitive salary ($97,056 – $113,149) commensurate with experience and in compliance with the staff collective bargaining agreement.
